Time for a party?

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

It must be time for a party soon?

I am talking with local musician, Richard Young, about a music night at Caiplie in August. Richard is a versatile multi -instrumentalist who performs in many styles including blues, jazz, latin and electronica.

As usual I would like a theme for food and music……any ideas

Making friends on the High Street

Monday, May 16th, 2011

Here is a photo of Warren who stayed at Caiplie last week. Warren and Alice (dark hair in the photo) are presently on their honeymoon in Scotland. They are from Sydney Australia and Warren has been a keen piper since 1958. He gave us a tune before departing. OK so I was forced to play one too!
All the best Warren and Alice

A piper was sick of the band abusing him, and decided to start his own. He walked into a music shop, planning to buy the first instruments he saw. “Give me the red saxophone and that accordion!” he said. The assistant replied, “You play the pipes, don’t you?” “That’s right. Why?” “Well, the fire extinguisher I can sell you – but the radiator stays.”

Jugalbandi

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

A jugalbandi or jugalbandhi (Devanagari: ????????, Urdu: ???????) is a performance in Indian classical music that features a duet of two solo musicians. The word jugalbandi means, literally, “entwined twins.” The duet can be either vocal or instrumental.

Tunna gig at Caiplie

The event on Saturday went really well even if I say so myself. The local prude went down well with the venison from Fletchers of Auchtermuchty meeting great acclaim and the apple and pear crumble with fruit from Pillars of Hercules getting good reviews.

Tunna entertained us with some traditional Scottish and Irish tunes as well as some self penned ones too. Dave’s Rab and Anna’s was the favourite I think.
Fraser Thomson filled the break with a great old story too, thanks

A big thanks to everyone who came along but especially Graham from the Honeypot who showed his special fusion of Scottish and Spanish dancing. ole
