Just as I congratulate myself for getting back in the saddle somebody rides up to put your efforts into perspective!!

I puffed my way up and over Peat Inn yesterday and back! Invited to a BBQ in Cupar to counter balance the calorie intake it seemed wise to take the trusty Raleigh for company. Of course you compensate by eating twice as many burgers!! Nice ribs Neil.

Anyway I don’t recommend Stella for hydration purposes but I made it home.

A cancellation meant I had a room to sell so I was delighted when a lone cyclist rode up looking for a room. Guido had ridden from ‘near Braemar’. Well I have known some parties taking a whole day from Braemar and that is with the aid of a combustion engine!

So it turns out Guido is on a proper cycle tour of Great Britain and Ireland. As he rolled up in Crail on Dy 60 he had clocked up 5,000 kilometres and planned a further 1,500!!
You can follow his blog www.gb-tour.com You don’t have to read German, the photos tell the tale! (yes he has time to stop, take photos and write a blog)

Go Guido!

Go Guido!

Interesting fact: he has had two slow punctures in 5,000km!

Are you a real friend?

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

I am offereing a great deal for friends in June….TWO for the price of ONE

But how do we classify Friend? Friend on Facebook mmmmm sorry but I don’t really have a relationship with lots of these people. How about the old friend from school you haven’t spoken to in twenty years?

Or should we classify friends as those people who exchange Christmas cards? For those Christians amongst us that is surely the litmus test?

Well I have to confess I don’t send Christmas cards….sorry. Not through any strongly felt philosophical reasons. Unless laziness can be termed as such? Thanks to you guys who persevere and send cards year after year. Actually I usually open them around Easter time on my return from the Alps at which point they look kinda strange.

Anyway why not take your chance….are you a friend?
